The Registrar of Bayero University Kano, Malam Haruna Aliyu, has called on staff who recently completed the Registry ICT Development Training to apply their newly acquired skills in ways that will enhance productivity and strengthen service delivery across the University.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the 2026 training programme on Thursday, 9th April, 2026, the Registrar emphasized that the value of such capacity-building initiatives lies not in participation alone, but in practical application.
He noted that the growing reliance on digital systems in modern administration makes ICT competence no longer optional, but essential for efficiency and improved institutional performance. He urged the participants to demonstrate commitment by translating their training into measurable impact within their respective units.
Malam Aliyu also commended the coordinators of the programme, Abubakar Kafinsoli and Ali Umar Yakasai, for their dedication and effective delivery of the training, describing their efforts as critical to the success of the initiative. He reaffirmed the Registry’s commitment to continuous staff development through regular training and retraining programmes aimed at equipping personnel with skills aligned to global ICT standards.
Earlier, the programme coordinator, Abubakar Kafinsoli, disclosed that the training spanned eight weeks, beginning in mid-February, and covered key components of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications. He noted that both junior and senior staff participated in the programme, reflecting the department’s inclusive approach to capacity building.
The University, he added, is set to commence the next batch of the training in the coming weeks, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen digital literacy and enhance administrative efficiency within the institution.
