The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr.Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga), has participated in the Zaria Youth Peace and Development Roundtable Discussion and the Assessment Tour of Legacy Projects facilitated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, GCON.
A statement from the office of the chairman said that the event brought together vibrant youths from across the Zaria Federal Constituency to undertake an honest assessment of the three-year leadership journey of the Speaker. The interactive session provided participants with the opportunity to ask questions, share constructive observations, offer recommendations, and contribute ideas aimed at strengthening democratic governance and accelerating development across the constituency.
It said Engr. Jaga joined other distinguished personalities at the event, including Sen. Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi and the Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) to the Speaker, Mal. Iliyasu Balarabe.
As part of the programme, participants embarked on an assessment tour of several landmark projects currently under construction across the constituency. The delegation first visited the Zaria Education City, where construction is ongoing on the Federal College of Education, National Open University, and College of Nursing. The tour also covered the second phase at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, where work is progressing on the College of Agriculture, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, and Sports Academy.
The delegation further inspected ongoing projects at Nagoyi, including the Zaria Tech Village, Technology Incubation Centre, ICT Centre, and Enrollment Centre, as well as the Women Development Centre, the bridges at Kofar Doka and Agoro, and several other strategic development projects across the constituency. While time constraints prevented the delegation from visiting every project, the tour provided participants with firsthand insight into the scale and impact of the ongoing interventions.
Speaking during the engagement, Engr. Jaga encouraged young people to always seek factual information and ask questions whenever they require clarification before criticizing public policies or projects. He emphasized that constructive criticism, meaningful dialogue, and informed citizen participation are indispensable to good governance and sustainable development.
He also urged residents to take full ownership of all public projects, stressing that the facilities belong to the people and should be protected. He called on members of the community to promptly report any substandard work or observed deficiencies through the appropriate channels to ensure accountability and value for public resources.
Engr. Jaga commended the organizers for creating a platform that promotes peace, transparency, accountability, and youth inclusion in governance. He also wished all participants a safe journey back to their respective destinations.
The Executive Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote unity, civic engagement, and sustainable development while encouraging greater collaboration between government and citizens in building a more prosperous Zaria Federal constituency.
