Thirty-nine youths from Gombe State, sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, to study at Yamusa Science Academy, Birnin Kebbi, have reaffirmed their unwavering support for his 2027 gubernatorial ambition.

A statement signed by Ibrahim Sani Shawai Spokesperson to Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said the beneficiaries, who are now pursuing various degree programmes in higher institutions, expressed confidence that children, women, and youths would be the greatest beneficiaries if Dr. Gwamna is elected governor of Gombe state come 2027.

In a message addressed to the people of Gombe State, the scholars highlighted the life-changing impact of Gwamna’s scholarship initiative.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mohammed Umar noted that the selection of 39 students from different parts of the state—without any form of connection—demonstrates Dr. Gwamna’s genuine commitment to the development of Gombe and its people.

He emphasized that sponsoring them to such a prestigious institution with personal resources reflects a leader ready to invest even more in human capital development if given the mandate.

“We are undergraduates today because he believed in our future. This gives us confidence that under his leadership, the future of children and youths in Gombe State will be brighter and more secure,” Umar said, urging fellow youths to support Gwamna’s candidacy.

Another beneficiary, Hafsat Abubakar, commended the scholarship scheme for empowering her as a girl-child to pursue her educational aspirations, describing it as a transformative opportunity.

In his response, Dr.Jamil Gwamna reiterated that investment in human capital development remains the most reliable path to sustainable progress.

He stated that his administration would prioritise youth empowerment through education, vocational training, and digital skills development to enable young people realise their full potential.

The APC gubernatorial candidate also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his remarkable strides in the education sector, particularly in revitalising infrastructure and improving learning outcomes across the state.

Highlighting the governor’s achievements, Gwamna remarked that education in Gombe has moved “from emergency to excellence.” He noted that despite initial doubts following the declaration of a State of Emergency in Education, the sector has witnessed significant transformation.

“From a 22 per cent pass rate, Gombe now records about 76 per cent success in external examinations. Over 450,000 out-of-school children have been returned to classrooms, more than 1,600 classrooms have been renovated and five Mega Colleges have been established to accommodate increasing enrolment,” he said.

“This is a story of redemption, and we will continue on this path until Gombe State becomes the reality of our collective dreams,” Gwamna affirmed.
