The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Nigeria (CILT), on Thursday, 21st May, 2026, held its 2026 Annual Lecture Series.
A statement signed by Umar Usman Chief information and Communication officer said the lecture series themed, ” Improving Connectivity Within the African Continent”, took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Conference Hall, Abuja.
It said the annual event was organized by the Council of the CILT to foster high-level dialogue and strategic collaboration within the transport and logistics sector.
It also convened distinguished professionals, policy makers, and industry leaders to examine critical issues shaping the future of mobility and supply chains across Africa.
Delivering a welcome address, the Chief Host who is also the President and Chairman of Council, CILT, Boboye Oyeyemi, Ph.D, highlighted the history of the Council and explained it’s establishment objectives.
He said that, the CILT, being a leading council in terms of logistics and transport in the country, has partnership across public and private institutions both within and outside the country.
He further said that, the selection of this year’s speaker was deliberate considering the theme of the event, “Improving Connectivity Within the African Continent”.
He said that, “there is connectivity deficit in the African continent and it is our hope that, with concerted efforts of the CILT, government and private organizations, the gap would be filled”.
“The CILT organizes conferences, seminars and workshops with the aim of contributing to the logistics and transport sector of the country”, he added.
The Honorable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo CON, SAN, FCTArb, FCILT was represented at the event by the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku.
Mrs. Kuku presented a paper on behalf of the Hon. Minister on the topic, “Improving Connectivity Within the African Continent”.
Delivering a Goodwill Message on behalf of the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, the Vice-Chancellor, Hon. Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, mni, commended the CILT for organizing the event.
According to him, the University was established purposely to provide the needed manpower in the logistics and transport sector of the economy.
“Transport and Logistics are no doubt important enabler of economic development of any country.
“It is in recognition of this importance that, the Hon. Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa directed us to double our enrollment from this year’s admission”, he said.
He then informed the CILT that the University is ready to assist it in the publicity of its activities through its quarterly Bulletin which is circulated across MDAs in Nigeria.
The event offered dedicated platforms for peer-level engagement among Fellows and Corporate Members; Strategic dialogue with senior industry stakeholders; Corporate visibility and sector positioning; and Institutional discussions on the future and roadmap of CILT, Nigeria.
