    COAS COMMISSIONS LEGACY PROJECTS IN 81 DIVISION GARRISON, URGES COMMANDERS TO MAKE LASTING IMPACT

    The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, has commissioned a series of legacy projects at Headquarters 81 Division Garrison, charging commanders to always strive to leave positive and lasting impacts in their commands.

    The commissioning ceremony took place on Thursday, 28 May 2026, at Dodan Barracks, Obalende, Lagos.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya Acting Deputy’ director army public relations,81 division Nigerian army said projects commissioned include the remodeled Garrison Main Gate, refurbished Commander’s Staff Car, refurbished Garrison Car Park, newly constructed Garrison Photo Stand, remodeled Operations Room, and renovated 13-family Corporals and Below Quarters (CBQ).

    Represented by the Corps Commander Ordnance, Major General Abdullahi Ibrahim, the COAS stated that value addition remains an important expectation for commanders, urging them to continually improve existing structures and facilities within their formations.

    He commended the Commander 81 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Ahmed Getso, for the remarkable transformation achieved within a short period and encouraged other officers to emulate such initiative and commitment. The COAS also appreciated the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continued support to the Nigerian Army.

    In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, expressed satisfaction with the projects executed, noting that the achievements recorded within a short period were highly commendable. He urged commanders to always make meaningful impacts irrespective of prevailing challenges.

    Earlier, the Project Executor and Commander 81 Division Garrison, Brigadier General AI Getso, described the projects as part of ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency, strengthen security architecture, and enhance personnel welfare in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff.

    He appreciated officers, soldiers, and civilian staff for their support and dedication toward the successful completion of the projects, while also thanking the GOC 81 Division for his leadership and unwavering support.

    The event was attended by senior officers, heads of security agencies, and other distinguished guests. Highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of the first Quarter Guard at the remodeled entrance, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
