    As part of efforts to deepen professional synergy and Inter-Agency Cooperation, the Commandant, Nigerian Army Armour School (NAAS), Major General Sunday Makolo paid courtesy visits to 33 Artillery Brigade and the Sector Command, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

    This was contained in a statement signed by Major AA Adekunle Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps issued to newsmen.

    At the Headquarters 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks, the Commandant met with the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Saidu Shehu. Major General Makolo said the visit was to strengthen the existing cordial relationship with the 33 Artillery Brigade, recalling that he had once lived in the Barracks during his service in Bauchi.

    He underscored the need for mutual support between NAAS and the Artillery Brigade, assuring that the Armour School would provide assistance within its capacity. He also advocated for increased academic and professional collaboration in weapons, training and military studies, noting that such partnership would boost the operational capacity of both formations.

    In his response, Brigadier General Shehu described the visit as a great honour. He acknowledged Major General Makolo’s mentorship during their time at the Nigerian Defence Academy and credited his guidance for his professional growth. The Commander reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining a robust and productive relationship with NAAS.

    In a related engagement, the Commandant also visited the Sector Command FRSC, Bauchi to reinforce Inter-Agency collaboration. He commended the Corps for its consistent support to the Nigerian Army especially in traffic control and safety operations.

    Major General Makolo requested continued FRSC support in processing Drivers’ Licences for military personnel, particularly those preparing for foreign missions. He also sought clarification on procedures for acquiring sirens for official military escorts and proposed more joint activities in training, lectures and sports.

    In his response, the Sector Commander FRSC, Sambo Caleb Luka welcomed the Commandant and reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to maintaining its long-standing partnership with the Nigerian Army. He noted that both organizations had worked together extensively on driver training and other professional development programs and assured the Commandant of the Corps’ sustained support.

    The visits featured the signing of visitors’ books, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
