The Commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Major General Adewale Collins Adetoba has charged the students of Logistics Management Course (LMC) 24 of 2026 to work in harmony with their colleagues, create room for intellectual dialogue, purposeful interactions and constructive engagement with one another.
A statement signed by Major Innocent Oche Audu Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management said the Commandant gave the charge during the inauguration ceremony of the LMC 24, which took place in Ogomudia Hall, at the College Moloney Campus Lagos, on Monday, 31 August 2026.
While delivering his inaugural address, Major General Adetoba disclosed that a total of 32 senior officers reported for the course, 30 out of them were drawn from the Nigerian Army (NA) while 2 were from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). He said the course underscores the importance of professional military education and the development of competent officers capable of providing effective logistics support to military operations.
He also reiterated the need for professional development of personnel to enhance the system and their career. Adding that this would also help in fulfilling the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM which is “to advance the transformation of the NA into a more professional, adaptable, combat ready and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.”
The Commandant added that the course would avail the students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and enhance their capacity to address contemporary logistics planning challenges and improve operational effectiveness, particularly in joint and inter-agency environments.
Major General Adetoba further emphasized the importance of innovation in military logistics. Adding that modern logistics management is increasingly influenced by information systems, data analytics, automation, digital supply chains and emerging technologies, urging the students to improve their capacity, efficiency, accountability, responsiveness and operational readiness.
Delivering his inaugural lecture titled: Leadership and Mentorship: My Personal Experience, General Adetoba said leadership involves communication, influence, and motivation. He also defined mentorship as a leadership development tool used by organizations to nurture future leaders and preserve institutional values.
Speaking on the relationship between leadership and mentorship, he noted that, leadership skills can be developed by observing exemplary leaders or studying successful leadership models, while mentorship requires a direct, personal relationship between an experienced mentor and a mentee.
The Acting Director Administration NACOLM and the Chairman, Reception and Inauguration Committee for the LMC 24 of 2026, Colonel Abduljaleel Mustapha while delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of members of the inauguration committee, appreciated God for the successful inauguration ceremony. He also expressed gratitude to the Commandant NACOLM for his highly inspiring lecture on leadership and mentorship. He added that the lecture is a vital resource material for achieving success in logistics planning and execution of military operations and mission success.
Colonel Mustapha also congratulated the students and encouraged them to take full advantage of the available knowledge, experience, and mentorship in the College to develop their career. He urged them to imbibe the spirit of teamwork, esprit de corps, andmutual respect.
