The Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering (NASME), Brigadier General Sebhil Adekunle Adeyemo, on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, formally inaugurated the School’s Third Quarter Training Cycle, comprising the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officers Course and 13 other specialist training programmes.

This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Nkuma Mba Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations NASME/NACEST made available to newsmen.

Addressing the participants, the Commandant reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to developing a highly professional, technically competent and operationally ready force capable of effectively responding to contemporary and emerging security challenges. He emphasized that, as the premier institution for military engineering training in the Nigerian Army, NASME remains committed to delivering realistic, rigorous and relevant training that promotes knowledge, innovation and practical application through instruction, research and development.

Brigadier General Adeyemo noted that the various courses had been structured to enhance participants’ technical proficiency, leadership capacity and operational effectiveness. He therefore charged them to approach the training with seriousness and commitment, actively participate in classroom and practical exercises, and develop the sound professional judgment required for effective performance in operational environments.

The Commandant particularly stressed the importance of strict adherence to safety procedures, especially during specialist engineering and EOD training. He reminded participants that safety, technical competence, discipline and professionalism must remain fundamental to all training activities. He further reiterated NASME’s zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline, professional misconduct and academic dishonesty, including examination malpractice.

He assured the participants that adequate training, medical and recreational facilities had been provided to create a conducive environment for learning and professional development. He consequently urged them to maintain high standards of physical fitness, personal discipline, ethical conduct and military bearing throughout their stay at the school.

Brigadier General Adeyemo expressed confidence that the successful completion of the courses would enhance the technical and operational capabilities of the Nigerian Army and contribute significantly to the effective discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

The ceremony concluded with the formal inauguration of the Third Quarter courses and group photographs.
