    The Commander, Headquarters Sector 2 Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE), Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Edet Effiong, has paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, at his palace in Damaturu, Yobe State.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Absolom Kandala acting assistant director army public relations headquarters sector 2, joint task force north east operation hadin Kai Damaturu Yobe state said the visit, aimed at strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions in the pursuit of peace and security, was marked by the Emir’s blessings and prayers for the Commander’s successful tenure.

    During the engagement, Brigadier General Effiong expressed profound appreciation to His Royal Highness for granting audience and acknowledged his exemplary leadership and enduring contributions towards peace, stability, and development within the Damaturu Emirate and Yobe State. He conveyed goodwill from the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal and reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s respect for traditional institutions as critical stakeholders in national security, peace, and community development.

    The Commander further reassured the Emir of the commitment of Sector 2 JTF (NE) Operation HADIN KAI to protecting lives and property, sustaining operational gains within Yobe State, and contributing to the wider theatre of operations. He requested continued prayers, support, and cooperation for troops in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

    In his response, His Royal Highness offered blessings and prayers for the Commander, wishing him a successful tour of duty as Commander Sector 2.

    He commended the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices and pledged continued support for efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region. The Emir also emphasized the importance of synergy between the military and traditional institutions, noting that such cooperation is vital for winning the hearts and minds of the people.

    Highlights of the event included the signing of the visitors’ book, presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.

    The visit further reinforced the bond between the Nigerian Army and the Damaturu Emirate, underscoring a shared vision of peace, unity, and progress for Yobe State and the North East region.
