The Gombe State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that its operatives have recovered One Hundred and Nineteen (119) rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition concealed in a sack along Kalshingi Road, opposite a graveyard in Kwadon, Yamaltu Deba LGA.
A statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi said the recovery was made following a credible information received by the Divisional Police Officer, Kwadon Division, at about 1030hrs on 19/05/2026, indicating that a suspicious white sack was sighted hidden under a tree along the said road.
Upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer promptly led a team of detectives to the scene where the sack was recovered and searched. Items recovered from the sack include:
(a) One Hundred and Nineteen (119) rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition
(b) Two empty packets of ammunition
(c) Two bottles containing moringa seeds
(d) One green bag
The surrounding bush and adjoining areas were thoroughly combed by the operatives, however, no arrest made.
The Command has intensified monitoring and surveillance in the area while investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend those connected with the concealed ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, urges members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and useful information to security agencies to aid ongoing efforts at ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the State.
