Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic road traffic accident that occurred at New Mile 3 in Gombe involving a trailer truck loaded with bags of grains, which claimed lives and left several others injured.
In a statement signed by the DG press affairs Gombe State government house the Governor described the incident as heartbreaking and unfortunate, particularly with the reported loss of a police officer and other victims in the crash, as well as destruction of public properties and goods.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya also sympathised with those who sustained injuries in the accident and prayed for their speedy recovery.
He commended the swift response of security operatives, emergency responders and relevant agencies currently managing the situation and conducting rescue and assessment operations at the scene.
While calling on motorists, especially drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and safety measures, the Governor stressed the importance of responsible driving in preventing avoidable tragedies on the roads.
He assured the public that his administration will continue to support all necessary efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and improving road safety across the state.
