The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NILEST Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam Fnip, has led a team to Ethiopian Institute of Textiles and Fashion Technology (EiTEX), University of Bahir Dar, Bahir Dar Ethiopia for inspection of facilities, discussions and collaboration.
A statement from the DGs office said the team arrived Addis Ababa on Sunday 29th June, 2026 and then proceeded to Bahir Dar where the University is located.
The DG is accompanied on the trip by the Director of Academic Planning Engr. Ibrahim Balarabe Muhammad and Director of Distance Learning Dr. Jerry Tagang.
EiTEX was represented at the discussion by all the Directors in the Institute on behalf of the University of Bahir Dar. The discussions centered on mounting degree programmes in Leather and Footwear Science and Technologies at NILEST via affiliation.
Also, a serious discussion was held for granting scholarship opportunities to Nigerians to study Textiles, Leather, Footwear and other courses in Science and Technology offered by the Bahir Dar university.
A representative of the Ethiopian Ministry of Education was at the meeting, and he highlighted the easy ways of securing scholarship opportunities for Nigerians.
Today’s meeting ended with a tour of laboratories, workshops, classes and other facilities at the EiTEX and Bahir Dar university.
The team will reconvene tomorrow Wednesday 1st July, 2026 at EiTEX, Bahir Dar University for finalisation of discussions and other agreements.
