    FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO ATTENDS GRAND FINALE OF CHARITY SHIELD POLO TOURNAMENT IN KADUNA

    Niger State governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago was among eminent personalities that witnessed the grand finale of the Charity Shield polo tournament held at the fifth chukker polo club, Kaduna.

    A statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim chief press secretary to the Governor said Farmer Umaru Bago who was the special guest of honour at the event along with other lovers of the game of polo watched with excitement as Access Bank polo team beat Malcomines polo team by 7 goals to 4 to emerge overall champions.

    The farmer governor congratulated all the participants in the week-long event for showcasing great skills in the game of polo and for their role in helping to sustain the traditional sporting event.

    Farmer Umaru Bago equally acknowledged the determination and the resilience of the overall winners of the tournament.

    The governor who is also the President of Minna Polo Club appreciated organizers of the tournament for putting up a great event that caught the attention of many lovers of the game.

    The climax of the event was the presentation of the charity shield to the Access Bank polo team as winners of the tournament while individual awards were also presented to players who distinguished themselves throughout the tournament.

    In line with the age long tradition related to polo which is acknowledged to be one of the world’s oldest sports, the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman was presented with a vintage car by the Founder, fifth chukker polo club, Adamu Atta to honour the evolution of transport and display of prestige and cultural celebration.

    The event was well attended and had the likes of the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, Chairman, Nigerian Polo Association, Suleiman Abubakar in attendance .
