Niger State Governor Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago extends his deepest felicitations to Nigeria’s former Head of State and Chairman of the National Peace Committee, Gen. Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar, on his 84th birthday.
The Farmer Governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, showers encomiums on the elder statesman.
He describes the celebrant as an icon of peace, unity, and patriotism whose contributions to national development cannot be overemphasised.
The Farmer Governor notes how Gen. Abubakar midwifed the transition programme in 1998 and ensured that Nigeria returned to democratic rule seamlessly in 1999.
He says it is not a coincidence that the former Head of state is widely referred to as a “father of Nigeria’s democracy.”
The Farmer Governor applauds the celebrant for his consistent efforts in ensuring that Nigeria and other West African countries remain peaceful and politically stable.
He maintains that the selfless sacrifices and inspiring leadership demonstrated by the former Head of state both during and after his active service years will remain invaluable in the annals of Nigerian history.
The Farmer Governor on behalf of the government and people of Niger State, joins the family of the celebrant to thank Allah for an additional year for the octogenarian.
He also prays that Allah will grant the celebrant sound health and strength to continue to enjoy peaceful aging and remain a shining example to younger generations.
