It was a celebration galore at Ahmadu Bello University when five academic staff of the Faculty of Dentistry received their diploma certificates at a graduation ceremony held at the weekend.
The diploma they obtained is in preparation for the Masters and Fellowship in oral and maxillofacial implantology they are about to start at the Global University of Medical Sciences (GUMS), Jamaica.
The graduation ceremony, which took place at the Department of Computer Engineering, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed.
Recently, the Global University of Medical Sciences granted the five academic staff a $125,000 scholarship for both the Masters and Fellowship programme. Each will receive $25,000 as scholarship for the programme.
GUMS primarily focuses on specialist training in dental disciplines, including Masters programme in oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery, implantology, and oral medicine.
The university is a subsidiary of the International Postgraduate Medical College (IPMC).
Prof Christopher Ogunsalu is the President of the International Postgraduate Medical College (IPM.
Ogunsalu facilitated the $125,000 scholarship for the five academic staff.
High point of the graduation ceremony was the presentation of certificates to the staff by the President of the International Postgraduate Medical College, Prof Christopher Ogunsalu.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, congratulated the students on successful completion of the diploma programme.
Prof Ahmed expressed gratitude to Prof Ogunsalu for facilitating the scholarship for the students to study at the Global University of Medical Sciences.
