The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, Prof. Suleiman Balarabe, on Tuesday joined the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’idu Ahmad, and heads of beneficiary teacher training institutions at the handover ceremony of ICT equipment and materials under the Japanese Government-supported project on capacity building for teachers.

It said the event, held at the Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters, Abuja, was organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with UNESCO-IICBA, the African Union International Centre for Girls and Women’s Education in Africa (AU/CIEFFA), and the Government of Japan.
The project, titled “Capacity-Building of Teachers to Promote Continuous and Inclusive Access to Safe and Quality Education for Girls in West Africa,” is aimed at strengthening teacher education through the provision of ICT equipment and instructional materials to selected federal and state colleges of education across Nigeria.
The intervention is expected to support digital teaching and learning, improve teacher capacity, and promote inclusive access to quality education, particularly for girls and vulnerable learners. It also includes mobile-based learning support for female teachers and school leaders, accelerated learning programmes for out-of-school children, psychosocial support, life skills training, and the provision of safe learning spaces.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mal. Abdullahi Abdulkadir; the Director of ICT, Dr. Ayotunde Alaba Fadele; and Engr. Abubakar Hassan.
