The General Officer Commanding (GOC) One division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Maj. Gen. Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase has paid a condolence visit to governor Umaru Bago to commiserate with him over the loss of 37 artisanal miners in the State.
A statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim Chief Press Secretary to the Governor said Maj. Gen. Wase on behalf of the One division and the Nigerian Army sympathized with the governor and people of Niger State over the unfortunate incident and wished nothing of such nature repeats itself.
He equally used the avenue to inform the farmer governor that all the Army formations in Niger State will from September 30th be under Division 9 following the approval for reorganisation of the Nigerian Army by President Bola Tinubu where Divisions have increased from eight to twelve.
He appreciated the farmer governor for all the support extended to the One division, Nigerian Army and reassured him that his doors will always remain open for the farmer governor.
In his response, farmer Umaru Bago appreciated the GOC One division for the visit and his empathy adding that such kind of visit gives the State government the courage to continue to go to the path of unravelling whatever happened.
He used the platform to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his magnanimity in creating more divisions in the Nigerian Army.
Farmer Umaru Bago commended the GOC saying, under his leadership, the State has witnessed significant development in terms of security and commended his officers and men in the State for their efforts in combating insecurity issues in Niger State.
He reassured Maj. Gen. Wase that the Niger State government will continue to collaborate with him in achieving more success.
