    GOC 1 DIVISION CHARGES NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS TO UPHOLD PROFESSIONALISM AND LOYALTY

    The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase, has called on newly promoted senior officers to rededicate themselves to the highest standards of discipline, loyalty, and professional excellence.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Ajemasu Yake Jingina acting deputy director army public relations,1 division Nigerian army/ sector 1 operation fansar yamma said Major General Wase gave the charge on Friday, 10 April 2026, during a decoration ceremony for officers recently elevated from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel. The event, held at the Stallion Officers’ Mess (Annex), Dalet Cantonment, Kaduna, followed the recent approval of promotions by the Army Council.

    In his address, the GOC emphasized that promotion in the military is both a reward for hard work and a call to higher responsibility. He urged the newly decorated Lieutenant Colonels to remain steadfast, innovative, and effective in managing their respective commands, particularly as the Division continues its operations to ensure regional security.

    “Promotion is not merely a change in rank, but a testament to your potential to lead at a higher level,” Major General Wase stated. “As you wear these new ranks, remember that the expectations of the Nigerian Army and the nation have increased. You must lead by example and remain unwavering in your commitment to service.”

    The newly promoted officers decorated at the ceremony include Lieutenant Colonels Nanmwaa Yakfa Selchum, Abdulkarim Muhammad, Wobase Joseph Emmanuel, Abdullahi Abubakar, and Christopher Ineme.

    Responding on behalf of the promotees, Lieutenant Colonel Nanmwaa Yakfa Selchum expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in them. He pledged that the officers would remain loyal to the constitutional mandate of the Nigerian Army, promising to discharge their duties with renewed vigour and exemplary leadership.

    Earlier in the ceremony, the President of the Mess Committee (PMC) and Commander 41 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General Sharif Owoyale Aremu, commended the GOC for his mentorship, support and for fostering a professional environment that encourages growth and merit.

    The ceremony reached its peak with the symbolic pinning of the new ranks by the GOC, assisted by family members and senior officers, followed by a celebratory reception and a group  photograph.
