In line with the proactive policing directives of the Inspector-General of Police and the strategic crime-fighting mandate of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, operatives of the Command have recorded another operational success in the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements across the State.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Timfon John made available to newsmen.
It said on 10th April 2026, at about 2310 hours, following credible intelligence, Operatives carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected criminal hideout at Ikot Ide Itak Village in Ikono Local Government Area. During the operation, one suspect identified as Cletus Etim (m) was arrested. Items recovered from the suspect include one locally made pistol and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
In a related development, credible intelligence revealed that one Sunday Abraham (m), 25 years, allegedly in possession of a firearm used in robbing residents of Ikot Otok Village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, was operating within the area. Acting swiftly on the information, operatives swung into action on 10th April 2026 at about 1745 hours and arrested the suspect. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a toy pistol and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspects are currently in police custody while discreet investigations have commenced. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the criminal network and ensure they are brought to justice.
