    GOC COMMENDS 3 DIVISION DRIVERS TRAINING WING FOR EXCELLENCE IN CAPACITY BUILDING

    The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has commended the Drivers Training Wing of the Division for excellence and its unwavering commitment to producing competent and professional military drivers.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya Acting Deputy’ director army public relations,3 division Nigerian Army said Major General Oyinlola gave the commendation during the graduation ceremony of Drivers Basic Course 1 of 2026 held at Maxwell Khobe Military Cantonment, Jos, Plateau State.

    The GOC who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Headquarters 3 Division, Brigadier General AU Gumel, praised the training wing for maintaining a well-structured programme that effectively combines theoretical knowledge with practical driving skills. He noted that the initiative aligns with the philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, which is focused on transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient force capable of operating effectively within a joint and multi-agency environment. “I commend your unwavering commitment to shaping these soldiers into competent drivers,” the GOC stated.

    Addressing the graduating students, Major General Oyinlola urged them to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and road safety for which 3 Division is known. He warned that negligence on the road has grave consequences. He charged the newly trained drivers to remain vigilant, focused, and committed to all operational procedures and regulations. According to him, the graduates must continually demonstrate competence, reliability, and teamwork. Stressing that their performance would reflect not only on them as individuals but also on the quality of training received.

    Earlier in his opening remarks, the Commander, 73 Supply and Transport Brigade, Colonel OC Okungbure, expressed appreciation to the GOC and other distinguished guests for attending the ceremony despite their demanding schedules. Colonel Okungbure described the graduation as a major milestone in the 2026 training cycle of 3 Division and the training programme of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport aimed at enhancing personnel capacity development.

    He explained that the course has equipped participants with the requisite knowledge and professional skills for handling military vehicles in both routine and operational environments. The Commander further stated that the newly trained drivers were expected to contribute meaningfully to operational effectiveness and mission success upon deployment to their respective units.

    Highlights of the ceremony included the Course highlight, vote of thanks and a group photograph.
