Officials from Gombe State Ministry of Education, led by Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, have undertaken an inspection tour of ongoing construction works for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodges across selected Mega Secondary Schools in the state.
The inspection visit featured critical assessments of project progress, quality of work and adherence to specifications aimed at delivering durable and conducive accommodation for corps members posted to schools.
Accompanying Professor Aishatu were the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Esrom Joktan Toro, and the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Chinwe Nnenna Nwachukwu, among other senior officials.
Speaking during the tour, Professor Maigari said the project is part of the deliberate policy direction of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, to create a supportive and enabling environment for both teaching and learning across the state’s educational institutions.
She explained that the construction of the lodges is part of a strategy to attract, motivate and retain qualified teachers, particularly corps members, by providing decent accommodation and improving their welfare while serving in Gombe State.
She emphasized that the presence of comfortable and secure housing for corps members would not only enhance their performance but also contribute significantly to the overall quality of education delivery in the state.
Also speaking, the SUBEB Chairman, Professor Esrom Joktan Toro, commended the Governor’s sustained investment in education infrastructure, noting that the Mega Schools initiative continues to serve as a model for integrated learning environments in the state.
On her part, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Chinwe Nnenna Nwachukwu, expressed appreciation to the Gombe State Government for prioritizing the welfare of corps members, describing the ongoing projects as a major boost to morale and service effectiveness
