    Gov. Buni Performs Groundbreaking of Hybrid Solar Projects

    Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN has performed a Groundbreaking Ceremony of 13.92MWP Interconnected Hybrid Solar Mini-Grid Projects in Damaturu, Yobe State.

    In a statement signed by the DG Press and Media Affairs to the Governor,Mal Mamman Mohammed said the projects, located in Waziri Ibrahim, Damaturu; Rugan Fulani, Potiskum; Yarimaram, Potiskum; Gashua in Bade and Nguru in Nguru Local Government Areas respectively.

    According to Gov. Buni, the projects to be executed under the Federal government Rural Electrification Agency “aligns perfectly with our administration’s vision of building resilient infrastructural development and sustainable economic growth to improve the lives of our people”.

    He said “the state government successfully initiated and completed electrification of over 450 rural communities across the state; and connected several others to the National Grid, thereby expanding access to electricity, and stimulating socio-economic development.

    “Similarly, the government restored power supply to communities whose facilities were vandalized in the wake of the Boko Haram insurgency. We equally connected the 30 years old Gulani local government, and the 35 year old Yunusari Local Government, to the National Grid, while 33kV and 11kV lines were also extended to underserved communities in the state.

    “A dedicated feeder line from the 330/132/33kV Injection Substation have been constructed to provide adequate and sustainable power supply to the Yobe State University and the Teaching Hospital.

    “The government carried out Installation, rehabilitation, and upgrading of transformers and transmission infrastructure across communities, schools, healthcare facilities, and government institutions, including support for the installation of a 132/33kV, 60MVA transformer at the Damaturu Injection Substation” Gov. Buni stated.

    The Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Mr Abba Aliyu, commended Gov. Buni for his commitment to the projects to improve the lives of the citizens.

    He said that the projects would be completed in the next six months and called for cooperation from the benefitting communities.

    The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Power, Alh. Mahmoud Mamman, said the federal government is committed to providing sustainable power supply to the people and called on the people to protect electrical facilities in their communities.
