Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commissioned and handed over a fully furnished office complex to serve as the headquarters of the Northwest Development Commission (NWDC), urging the Commission to commence full operations and address the region’s developmental challenges.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa and made available in Kano

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony held along Tafawa Balewa Road, Kano, Governor Yusuf said the office complex was donated to ensure the Commission begins work without further delay.

The Governor reaffirmed the commitment of Kano State and other Northwest governors to supporting the Commission in achieving its mandate of transforming the region through strategic interventions.

He expressed confidence that the Commission would tackle critical challenges confronting the Northwest, particularly in youth empowerment, skills acquisition, agriculture, poverty reduction, education, healthcare, infrastructure, environmental sustainability and security.

Governor Yusuf also announced the donation of two hectares of land by the Kano State Government for the construction of the Commission’s permanent headquarters.

In a remark, Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, commended Governor Yusuf for the gesture, describing the donation of the office complex as a significant milestone that would fast-track the Commission’s takeoff.

The Minister conveyed the appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Governor Yusuf, noting that the donation had removed one of the major obstacles delaying the commencement of the Commission’s operations.

He assured that the Federal Government remains committed to supporting the Northwest Development Commission in delivering sustainable development programmes across the region.
