…Commends Unity, Says Ingawa Has Played Significant Role in Katsina’s Political History
* Ingawa Stakeholders Appeal for More Roads, Youth Empowerment, Irrigation Development
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has assured the people of Ingawa Local Government of his administration’s continued support and commitment to addressing their development needs, while commending them for their unity, cooperation and support.
A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammad chief press secretary to the Governor said Governor Radda gave the assurance on Friday when he received a delegation of Ingawa stakeholders on a thank-you visit to Government House, Katsina.
The delegation visited to appreciate the Governor for various interventions and opportunities provided to the people of Ingawa, including infrastructure development, political appointments, youth empowerment and other government initiatives.
Governor Radda commended the people of Ingawa for coming together, stressing that unity, cooperation and mutual understanding were essential to achieving their collective political and developmental aspirations.
“We feel very happy and honoured by this visit. We sincerely appreciate you for coming, and we thank you for the cooperation and support you have continued to give to our administration,” he said.
The Governor said his administration would not take the support of the people for granted, noting that government had a responsibility to support communities that also supported its development agenda.
“We do not take your support for granted. It is our responsibility to support and assist communities that have also supported us,” Governor Radda said.
He noted that Katsina State’s political history could not be complete without acknowledging the significant role played by Ingawa, saying the area had remained an important part of the state’s political development from the SDP and NRC eras to subsequent political periods.
Governor Radda stressed that the unity currently demonstrated by the people of Ingawa would strengthen their ability to pursue common political and developmental interests.
He also expressed support for the aspiration of the people of Ingawa to produce a representative in the House of Representatives, noting that the constituency had not previously produced a member in that capacity.
The Governor explained that government interventions in the area had been guided by the needs, realities and understanding of the people of the constituency.
“Everything we have done has been based on the agreement and understanding of the people of the constituency. We are doing things that are realistic and beneficial to the people,” he said.
He emphasised that leadership was a responsibility entrusted by God and must be used in the service of the people.
“Leadership is determined by God. He is the One who gives leadership to whoever He chooses and where He wills,” Governor Radda said.
The Governor commended the stakeholders for their unity and urged them to sustain the spirit of cooperation, particularly in pursuing their collective aspirations.
He also commended the Member representing Ingawa State Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Suleiman Tunas, for supporting the collective interests of the people.
Governor Radda cautioned against allowing external comments and political sentiments to undermine the unity of the people, stressing that leadership was about trust, responsibility and service.
“We will continue to do everything possible to put aside whatever people may be saying. Leadership is about trust and service; it is not a trophy,” he said.
On the requests presented by the stakeholders, Governor Radda assured them that the government would give them due consideration, particularly those concerning roads, youth empowerment, irrigation development and other infrastructure needs.
He said the requests would be assessed in line with available resources and government priorities.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ingawa stakeholders, Hon. Abubakar Idris II, expressed appreciation to Governor Radda for the interventions and opportunities provided to the people of the local government.
He said the visit was to acknowledge the administration’s support, particularly its efforts to create opportunities for youths and increase political participation.
“We came here today to express our appreciation and happiness over the numerous things Your Excellency has done for the people of Ingawa Local Government,” he said.
He assured the Governor of the continued cooperation and support of the people of Ingawa.
Also speaking, the District Head of Ingawa,Ubandoma, Alhaji Mukhtar, appreciated Governor Radda for giving the people of Ingawa opportunities to participate and excel in government.
He commended the Governor’s leadership and continued support for the area.
The Member representing Ingawa State Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Suleiman Tunas, also appreciated Governor Radda for appointing indigenes of the local government into various government positions, including Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants and other appointments.
He commended the administration for the construction of the Shargalle–Ingawa Road and interventions in healthcare, water supply and other sectors.
Tunas, however, appealed for the construction of additional roads to improve transportation, movement of agricultural produce and economic activities.
He also called for greater youth empowerment through the development of irrigation facilities and reservoirs, noting that Ingawa had significant agricultural potential.
“Investment in irrigation infrastructure will create employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of our young people,” he said.
He further appealed for improvement of the road linking Ingawa towards the Kano axis, saying the project would boost trade and economic activities in the area.
The Chairman of Ingawa stakeholders, Engr. Mustapha Kanti Muhammad Bello, thanked Governor Radda for the support and cooperation extended to the people of the local government.
Bello appealed to the Governor to continue to regard Ingawa as a home and provide further guidance, advice and support to its stakeholders.

he Katsina State Executive Council; and other top government officials.
