The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, yesterday joined the Honourable Members representing Zaria City and Zaria Kewaye State Assembly Constituencies, Hon. Mahmud Lawal Bola Ige and Engr. Isa Haruna Ihamo , to flag off a Free Medical and Surgical Outreach organised by the Uba Sani Engagement and Sensitisation Forum (USESF) at the Rimin Doko Primary Health Care Centre, Kaura, Zaria City.
A statement signed by Galadima Ishaq Chief Press Secretary Office of the Executive Chairman Zaria Local Government Council said the outreach is part of a wider medical intervention being implemented across the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, aimed at bringing essential healthcare services closer to the people, particularly those who may not have the financial capacity to access such services.
In Zaria, over 126 surgical cases were attended to, including hernia in adults and children, hydrocele in adults and children, lipoma, ganglion, appendicitis, umbilical hernia in adults and children, and keloids.
Beneficiaries also received free general consultations, health talks and interactive sessions, laboratory investigations, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, medications, as well as deworming services for children.
Speaking during the event, Chairman Jaga expressed satisfaction with the impact of the intervention, noting that providing medical care without placing a financial burden on beneficiaries was a significant contribution to the wellbeing of the people.
He commended the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani CON, for the initiative and his continued commitment to improving the welfare of citizens across the state.
The Chairman also commended the medical team led by Dr. Jamil Haruna for their professionalism, dedication and sacrifice in providing quality medical and surgical services to the people.
Later in the day, Chairman Jaga visited Wusasa to commiserate with the family of the late Malam Samaila Ahmed, Iyan Wusasa, over his passing. He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and give the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
Chairman Jaga also visited his brother, Saeed Shehu Bako, whose wife was recently blessed with twins. He congratulated the family and prayed that Almighty Allah protects the newborns, grants them good health and makes them a source of joy, blessings and pride to their parents and the entire family.
