The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4, Makurdi, AIG Dankombo F. Morris, psc(+), conducted an on-the-spot assessment of Bin’per Community, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, following the recent attack which claimed the lives of about 24 residents, injured several others and destroyed property.
A statement signed by CSP Ani Iniedu, Force Public Relations Officer,Force Headquarters, Abuja said AIG Morris, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Ayoade Faniyan, and other senior Police officers, assessed the security situation in the community and reviewed measures being implemented to strengthen security and prevent further attacks.
Addressing the affected residents, the AIG conveyed the IGP’s deep concern over the incident and condemned the attack as barbaric and unacceptable. He expressed sympathy to the families of those killed and assured the community of the Force’s commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators of the crime are apprehended.
He disclosed that additional personnel and operational assets had been deployed to strengthen security in the affected area, while efforts were being intensified to restore confidence and enable residents to safely return to their homes and livelihoods.
During the visit, AIG Morris paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, where he conveyed the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to the Government and people of the State over the unfortunate incident. In his response, the Governor expressed concern over the attack and reaffirmed the State Government’s support for ongoing security efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, prevent further attacks and restore lasting peace in the affected communities.
The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to working with the Plateau State Government, other security agencies and affected communities to strengthen security, prevent further violence and ensure the safety of residents across the State.
