In a commendable show of sportsmanship and team spirit, Juliet Training Company of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, has achieved a remarkable feat of victory, as they emerged first position in the Inter-Company 15KM Race Competition held on Saturday, 11 April 2026, at the institution.
A statement signed by Captain Chikadibia Viola Anele Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Depot Nigerian Army Zaria said the Competition which is aimed at not only fostering healthy rivalry among the recruits undergoing training but also……. kicked off at the physical training ground and covered a ground breaking distance. Recruits of Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India and Juliet Training Companies contested keenly and fiercely through the route which extended into Sabon-Gari Local Government Area where the institution is located and back to the Regimental Sergeant Major Hama Kim Parade Ground exhibiting phenomenal tenacity, discipline and will power. The atmosphere at the parade ground which was the finishing point, remained charged and vibrant as all who graced the event cheered on.
Speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour, Colonel ED Ehicheoya, Commandant Nigerian Army School of Legal Services, said that the recruits have exhibited high levels of endurance both individually and while congratulating the winning training company and urging them not to rest on their oars, the Special Guest of Honour enjoined all others to train harder so as to emerge better. He further encouraged them all to remain steadfast and disciplined; and remain committed to assigned roles as they prepare for future national defence responsibilities.
Colonel Ehicheoya also thanked the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army Zaria, Major General AB Mohammed, for successfully hosting the competition, as well as the Chief Judge, officials, and instructors whose contributions ensured a seamless outing and support teams whose professionalism ensured a seamless outing adding that their combined efforts reinforced the institution’s reputation as the home of regimentation.
Present at the event were the Chief of Staff, the Deputy Chief of Staff, principal staff officers, heads of departments and representatives from paramilitary and sister agencies.
Highlights of the day was the recognition of outstanding performances by the recruits cadets in both the male and female categories who emerged top 3 among equals, were presented medals and certificates for their individual achievements. The inter-company 15KM Race Competition not only showcased athletic brilliance but also reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering commitment to producing young soldiers whose strength, professionalism and unity continue to inspire.
