The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, as part of its preparations for the 2026 Hajj operations, has partnered with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Kaduna State University (KASU) to sensitize intending pilgrims on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of complying with international regulations.
A statement signed by the board public relations officer Ibrahim Datti said the sensitization programme was conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Forensic, Hard Drugs Analysis and Sensor Technology (CFHDAS) of KASU.
The event took place at Sardauna Memorial School, Kaduna, where both Kaduna South and Headquarters registration centres are currently conducting Bita, which has now entered its 16th week.
Speaking during the session, the Assistant Commander of NDLEA in charge of Counselling, Treatment, and Rehabilitation, Mr. Shuaibu Muhammad, educated intending pilgrims on precautionary measures. He urged them to avoid carrying or consuming any prohibited substances, emphasizing the severe consequences of drug-related offences, particularly in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Also speaking, the Director of CFHDAS, Dr. Salamatu Hayatu, advised pilgrims to strictly adhere to the laws of the host country and avoid any form of illegal substances throughout the pilgrimage.
In his remarks, the Director of Enlightenment of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Malam Abubakar Alhassan, expressed appreciation to both NDLEA and KASU for their collaboration. He further urged intending pilgrims to cooperate fully with authorities and maintain discipline in line with international standards.
Similarly, the Director of Administration and Finance, Hajiya Halima Aliyu Babale, called on the pilgrims to uphold the good image of Kaduna State and Nigeria during the Hajj exercise
