The Kano State Police Command has reiterated the ban on Durbar and Horse-riding activities in the state, warning that any violation of the order will be dealt with.

The State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, sounded the warning while addressing Journalists at the command’s headquarters,Bompai, Kano,on Friday.
“It would be recalled that the Kano State Government, after due consultations with relevant security stakeholders in the state and in its efforts to preserve public peace and order in the State, recently pronounced a ban on all forms of Durbar and Horse-riding activities throughout the State.Reports indicate apparent breaches of these security directives.

“The Kano State Police Command in conjunction with relevant Security Agencies in the State hereby reiterate, that these executive security directives so issued regarding the ban on Durbar/Horse-riding activities, are still in force and binding on all persons in the State, irrespective of status or position.
“The threats which necessitated the ban were put to serious checks and are still potent,”Bakori said.
According to him,the primary responsibility of the Law Enforcement and Security Agencies is the maintenance of public peace, safety and order, warning,”We cannot afford to allow any act that will breach the peace and jeopardize public safety.”

In order to strengthen security coordination and to ensure proper security coverage in the state, the commissioner said,the Joint Security Meeting resolved that “any person, institution or organization that deems it very pertinent to undertake any form of Durbar, and/or Horse/Animal-Riding activity in public place in the State is required to give at least 72 hours prior notice in writing to the Kano State Police Command through the Office of the State Commissioner of Police, to enable necessary security assessment and arrangements for public safety and order.”
“All concerned are therefore urged to comply strictly with all lawful security directives and to cooperate with the security agencies,” he added.
