The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced that his administration will soon commence the construction of 50 houses alongside the 5 Kilometre road projects across 36 Local Government Areas in the state.
A statement signed by Mustapha Muhammad chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor Kano State Government House said the initiative aims to reduce the housing deficit and revitalize rural communities through modern, well-planned residential quarters.

Governor Yusuf disclosed this during a one-day stakeholders’ meeting organized to brainstorm strategies for seamless project execution, particularly concerning land compensation and grievance resolution.
Representing the Governor at the event, the Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Dr. Abdulkadir Abdussalam, assured stakeholders that each project will be equipped with essential public amenities, including healthcare facilities, markets, and police outposts.

The housing scheme, tagged the “5km Abba Gida Gida Rural Model Cities,” is designed to drive local infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the participating 36 Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Housing Development, Arch. Ibrahim Yakubu, alongside the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Tajuddeen Othman, commended the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality rural housing.
The Council chairmen from the 36 local areas embraced the development and expressed their full support for the smooth kickoff and timely completion of the project.
