The Kano State government has doubled its efforts on strengthening bilateral relationships with the United Kingdom.

The Executives Governor of Kano State Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf made this known when the British High Commission delegation paid him a courtesy visit, Tuesday.

The governor, ably represented by Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, stated that the visit reflects shared commitment to strengthening cooperation, deepening strategic dialogue, and advancing the principles of mutual accountability in governance and development.

This was contained in a press release issued by Mustapha Muhammad the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“The Kano State Government highly values the support and partnership of the British High Commission in critical sectors that directly impact the lives of our people, including governance reforms, education, healthcare, economic development and social inclusion,” the governor averred.

Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo maintained that a lot could be achieved more through genuine partnerships built on trust, transparency, and shared responsibility.

Adding that it is an opportunity to review collective progress, exchange ideas, and reaffirm the commitment to the Mutual Accountability Framework.

He emphasized that the government remains fully committed to creating an enabling environment for development partners to contribute effectively to the vision of a more prosperous, inclusive, and economically vibrant Kano State.

Earlier in her speech, the leader of the delegation, Head of Development Cooperation, British High Commission, Cynthia Rowe, said the visit is to further strengthen bilateral relationships and focus more on three key areas.

“The first is economic growth through investment. This includes improving access to finance, encouraging private sector participation, introducing de-risking guarantees, and supporting initiatives that can stimulate economic development in both Nigeria and Kano State.”

She mentioned security and stabilization as other priority areas. It is evident that without stability and security, it becomes difficult for investors and businesses to operate with confidence.

According to the leader of the British High Commission’s delegation, the third area is strengthening systems — systems that deliver healthcare, education, agricultural reform, and good governance.
