Katsina State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON declared Tomorrow Tuesday 16th June, 2026 as a work-free day, to commemorate the first day of the Islamic New Year (1st Muharram 1448 AH).
A statement signed by the state commissioner ministry of information and culture,, Dr Bala Salisu Zango said the holiday marks the beginning of the Hijrah calendar (New Year), specifically the year 1448 AH.
Governor Radda urged the residents of Katsina State to use the period for reflection and to offer prayers for the growth, peace, and prosperity of both the state and Nigeria at large.
Katsina State has a tradition of observing the day to allow the Muslim faithful to engage in spiritual activities.
