The Management Staff of the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, in collaboration with the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Gombe State Chapter, have honoured the former Honourable Commissioner, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri (Wazirin Akko), in recognition of his exemplary service and contributions to grassroots development in the State.
A statement signed by the information officer of the ministry said the honour took place during the April, 2026. Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) Meeting held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, where a gift was presented to the former Commissioner on behalf of the Ministry’s staff.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Malam Shuaibu Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the former Commissioner for his dedication and commitment to the development of rural communities across Gombe State.
He noted that his tenure was marked by impactful initiatives that improved the lives of people at the grassroots level
Also speaking, the ALGON Chairman, Barr. Sani Ahmed Haruna, who presented a gift on behalf of the Local Government Chairmen, commended the former Commissioner for his exceptional leadership and efforts in fostering unity among the Chairmen.
He highlighted that his coordination and support enabled the successful execution of numerous development projects across the Local Government Areas.
In a goodwill message, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Mohammed Dantata Ndus, appreciated the former Commissioner for his leadership style and strong working relationships, which he said contributed significantly to the progress recorded during his tenure.
In his response, the former Commissioner, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri (Wazirin Akko), expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the development of the State.
He also appreciated the Local Government Chairmen and Ministry staff for their cooperation, support, and the cordial relationships maintained throughout his tenure.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting initiatives that promote unity and development in Gombe State.
