As part of activities marking the 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) carried out a series of civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) activities aimed at strengthening its relationship with host communities.

On Saturday, 4 July 2026, the Brigade conducted an environmental sanitation exercise from the Emir’s Palace to the main market in Jalingo. Officers and soldiers cleared refuse and cleaned the area, demonstrating their commitment to community service.
Flagging off the exercise, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA)/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, stated that the initiative provided an opportunity for the Army to interact with the people and build trust. He noted that it aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of a professional force that promotes strong civil-military relations and public confidence.
The Brigade also held a public engagement at Hassan Government Day Secondary School, Jalingo. The event featured talks on military careers, a quiz competition, and the distribution of educational materials. The Commander, 6 Brigade NA Sector OPWS Brigadier General CM Akaliro, emphasized that NADCEL is not only about celebrating achievements but also about fostering meaningful connections with the public and inspiring the younger generation.
In her remarks, the school principal, Mrs Naomi Oliver Suleiman, commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication to national unity and for inspiring students through the initiative.
In a related development, on Sunday, 5 July 2026, the Brigade extended its outreach to the Sukani community in Ardo Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State with a free medical programme. Hundreds of residents benefited from consultations, tests, treatment, and the distribution of medications.
Representing the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, Dr Aisha Shehu Adamu, Dr Abubakar Suleiman Kirim described the initiative as thoughtful, noting that access to healthcare is vital for community development and stability.
In his remarks, the Brigade Commander reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to humanitarian services and community-focused programmes. He stressed that such initiatives enhance public trust and support national development.
The activities highlight the Nigerian Army’s dedication not only to safeguarding the nation but also to serving the people through impactful community engagement.
