The Chairperson, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 82 Division Chapter, Mrs Hilda Ijeoma Fadairo, has emphasized that the cultural performances at the NAOWA Group of Schools Enugu Combined Cultural, Speech, and Prize-Giving Day represent Nigeria’s national values, stressing that the event goes beyond mere entertainment.

Delivering her opening remarks during the Year 2025/2026 Academic Session Combined Cultural and Prize-Giving Day Ceremony held at the school premises on 22 July 2026, Mrs Fadairo described the occasion as a strategic platform for character development and national cohesion. She noted that NAOWA, as an institution, deliberately integrates cultural values into the school system to nurture responsible citizens.
She highlighted that, in line with global military best practices, the development of young people must extend beyond academics to include leadership, resilience, and respect for diversity. According to her, these qualities strengthen both the Armed Forces and civil society.
Commending the diligence and discipline of the students, Mrs Fadairo congratulated all award recipients and urged every student to strive for greater heights. She encouraged them to become ambassadors of unity through the appreciation of Nigeria’s cultural diversity, which was prominently showcased at the event.
She expressed profound gratitude to the NAOWA National President, Mrs Safiyyat Hassan Shaibu, and to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Oluremi Fadairo, for their consistent support and guidance towards the school.
In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, GOC 82 Division, Major General Oluremi Fadairo, commended NAOWA 82 Division Chapter for organizing such a laudable event. He reminded students that education extends beyond academic attainment, describing the cultural displays as a reaffirmation of the strength inherent in Nigeria’s rich ethnic and cultural heritage.
The GOC further disclosed that significant projects have been completed in NAOWA Group of Schools, with several others ongoing. He described NAOWA Secondary School as one of the foremost schools in the state, reflecting the Association’s commitment to educational excellence within and outside the military community. He also appreciated parents and guests for their presence and continued support.
The ceremony underscored NAOWA’s role in promoting national unity, cultural awareness, and educational excellence. By combining cultural displays with academic recognition, the Association reaffirmed its commitment to raising future leaders who embody discipline, resilience, and respect for diversity.
Highlights of the occasion included cultural displays by various ethnic groups showcasing Nigeria’s diversity, presentation of souvenirs to senior officers, presentation of awards to outstanding students, and group photographs with dignitaries.
