The Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Bayero University, Kano (BUK) Chapter, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure.
A statement signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy, media aide to the VC said the delegation, led by the Chapter Chairman, Comr. Abdullahi Nasiru Abdulrafi’u, was at the University to congratulate Prof Bunkure on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor and his first anniversary in office.
Other members of the delegation were the National Trustee, Comr. Ladi Musa; Secretary, Kabiru Sani Yahaya; Treasurer, Asma’u Jibrin Khalid; and former Chairman, Lawan Abdullahi Dorayi.
Also on the delegation were executive members Saddiqatu Tanimu Yar’Adua, Abdullahi S. Jibril and Rabi’u Isma’il Hamza, as well as ex-officio members Maikudi Haladu, Ahmad Usman and Gambi Muhammad Sadiq.
Speaking during the visit, Comr. Nasiru briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the forthcoming National Trade Group Council Meeting of Universities and Inter-University Centres being organised by the National Body of the Union.
He said the BUK Chapter would host the national gathering and was making preparations for the event.
Responding, Prof Bunkure thanked the delegation for the visit and congratulated the chapter on its selection to host the meeting. He said the Federal University of Education, Zaria would participate in the programme and welcomed the initiative.
The University’s NASU Chairman, Engr. Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman, expressed the chapter’s readiness to work with its BUK counterpart towards a successful meeting.
Similarly, the SSANU Caretaker Committee Chairman in the University, Comr. Abdullahi Ibrahim, pledged his union’s cooperation.
The National Trustee, Comr. Ladi Musa, said the union was making progress and noted that hosting the gathering at BUK would be the first time the event would take place in the northern part of the country. She called for unity among members and collective efforts towards a successful programme.
The Ag. Registrar, Alh. Shehu Iya Sa’idu, and the Secretary/Chief of Staff to the Vice-Chancellor, Sani Ibrahim Wambai, were also present at the meeting.
