    NIGER STATE GOVERNOR PERFORMS THE GROUNDBREAKING OF THE PERMANENT NYSC ORIENTATION CAMP

    Governor of Niger state,Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has performed a groundbreaking for phase one of the new permanent camp for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

    A statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State said Farmer Umaru Bago explained that the project was a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to youth development.

    He explained that the phase one project will be on eight hectares of land, while another 20 hectares have been made available for NYSC farms.

    The Farmer Governor assures that money for the project has been provided and expresses confidence that the Niger state NYSC permanent camp will be the best in the country.

    The Director General of the NYSC, Brig. Gen. Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu said the project was a demonstration of joint commitment to youth development, national unity, and future progress.

    He said the new NYSC camp when completed, will not only enhance comfort, safety and morale of corps members, but will also serve as a center for youth empowerment and community development.

    Brig. Gen. Oluseye Nafiu appreciated the Niger governor for his unwavering support to the NYSC and also thanked him for the allocation of resources for the project.

    He noted that Niger state is now the fourth after Lagos, Adamawa, and Gombe states in providing new modern orientation camps for corps members.

    Brig. Gen. Nafiu appealed to the contractor to ensure the project is completed within the agreed time and not to compromise quality.

    The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik SarkinDaji, commended the Farmer Governor for the project and assured him of all legislative support to ensure its success.

    The contractor of the project, Mr. Stephen Adigun, explained that the edifice will accommodate about 5,000 corps members and can be expanded.

    He said that the camp will have a residential hostel of 41 blocks, with 20 rooms per block and six beds in each room.

    Other facilities are a 3,000-capacity multi-purpose hall, administrative offices, sports and recreational facilities, perimeter fencing, and a clinic, among others.

    He promised to bring in expertise and commitment to the project to ensure timely completion.

    In their separate remarks, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development Dr Nuhu Ngaski,the Emir of Agaie Alh. Yusuf Nuhu spoke on behalf of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, appreciated the governor for the project, and assured him of their continuous support for initiatives that have a meaningful impact on the people.
