The Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reassured the Nigerian Army (NA) of continuous support for its operations. He gave the reassurance on 2 September 2026, when the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, NA, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Akure, Ondo State.
The Governor, while appreciating the officers and men of the NA for ensuring lives and property in the state are secured, said the state is being adjudged as one of the safest states, owing to the functional collaboration between the State and the security agencies. He further said, the State will continue to support the NA operations in the area of logistics to make it more effective. He maintained that Ondo State is secured and peaceful, and has continued to attract investors. He thanked the Division and the NA for the incredible ways they have been performing their work, by emplacing a peaceful environment for socio-economic activities to thrive in the State.
Governor Aiyedatiwa used the opportunity to appreciate the GOC for the leadership he provided at the recently concluded Off Cycle Gubernatorial in Ondo State. He stressed that the leadership ensured the election was peaceful, credible and conclusive.
Speaking during the visit, the GOC, 2 Division, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda said he was in the state as part of his familiarisation tour to formations and units under command. This he said necessitated his visit to the Governor, essentially to register his presence on assumption of command. He further thanked him for all the support he has been providing to the NA formations and units.
