Speaker House of Representatives Dr Abbas Tajuddeen, has described the safety return of the kidnapped teachers, pupils, and students of Oyo State as a pleasant close to a bad chapter in the country’s history.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Malam Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker lauded the courageous leadership of President Bola Ahmad Tinunu the Oyo State Government and the security agencies for the safe rescue of the victims.
Dr Abbas Tajudeen, who appealed for concerted efforts towards protecting schools and other public facilities that terrorists may consider as soft targets, however, urged the security forces to rescue other Nigerians in captivity across the country.
The Speaker noted that the relief was not only for the families and communities of the abductees but also for all Nigerians who shared their pains and imagined the terror they might have gone through.
He re-assured the commitment of the House to providing legislative interventions that will aid the safety of life and property as well as the country’s territorial integrity.
After a 56-day ordeal that gripped the nation, the Presidency has disclosed the safe rescue of the Kidnapped victims, the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers while several others were neutralised.
