President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a high-powered Federal Government delegation, comprising the Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, to the maiden Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NDIEC) in Toronto, Canada, as part of efforts to attract diaspora investment and deepen bilateral economic ties between the two nations.

The nomination was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by NiDCOM’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

According to Mr Balogun, the conference, themed “Invest Nigeria, Thrive Abroad,” is scheduled to be held from August 12 to 15, 2026, in Toronto.

He said the Nigerian delegation will be led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The delegation also includes Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; as well as Governors Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

Other officials include representatives of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria Customs Service, Immigration Service, and Revenue Service, as well as the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission, Export Promotion Council, and NITDA.

The Canadian delegation will feature Hon. Shafqat Ali, President of the Treasury Board of Canada; Ontario’s Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, Hon. Graham McGregor; Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown; and other senior officials.

Mr Balogun further said that the conference aims to connect global investors with investment-ready opportunities in high-impact sectors critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and long-term development and was organised by NiDCOM in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa and the Canadian High Commission in Abuja.
