The Gombe State Head of Civil Service, Professor Muazu Usman Shehu, on Tuesday 14th April 2026 held marathon engagements with four key organisations who paid congratulatory and working visits to his office in Gombe.
First to call was the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), led by Acting State Director, Mr. Michael Edoga. The delegation congratulated Prof. Shehu on his appointment commended Gombe State for emerging top in the country on asset declaration compliance, crediting media campaigns spearheaded through the HoCS Office.
A statement by the Information officer office of the state head of service said the Bureau also briefed him on its wider anti-corruption mandate and the 14 Codes of Conduct for public officers.
Next was the Gombe State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), led by Chairman Alh. Umar Babagoro Bello. The Commission applauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s achievements and disclosed that Gombe now ranks second on the States’ Transparency Index. It sought the HoCS’s support for mobility, ICT and personnel to aid the activities of the FRC.
The Acting State Surveyor General, Surv. Zakari Isa Kwami, also led management staff on a courtesy visit, pledging loyalty to the Inuwa Yahaya administration and commitment to implementing government policies.
Rounding off the engagements was the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Gombe State Council, led by Chairman Comrade Auwalu Gambo. The TUC described Prof. Shehu’s appointment as “a square peg in a square hole,” citing his loyalty, competence, integrity and scholarship. The union said his leadership has brought renewed hope to workers and will strengthen labour-government collaboration.
Responding to the delegations, Prof. Shehu assured the CCB of sustained partnership, stating that “if the CCB succeeds, Nigeria succeeds,” and pledged to support the dissemination of the 14 Codes across the civil service. He described the FRC as a key stakeholder in the administration’s transparency drive, charged it to maintain its rating, and assured government collaboration for civil service digitalisation. He told the Surveyor General’s team that ongoing reforms to rejuvenate the civil service would benefit their agency. On workers’ welfare, he commended Governor Yahaya for prompt payment of salaries and pensions, clearance of gratuity backlogs, and the ongoing construction of an ultramodern secretariat, pledging to reposition the civil service for greater efficiency and service delivery.
Present at the events were the Directors of Administration and Finance, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Alh. Shuaibu Ciroma and Mrs. Tabitha D. James, alongside Deputy Directors, Staff Officers and other senior staff of the office.
