Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded further operational successes with the arrest of terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, destruction of three Improvised Explosive Devices, and the recovery of 73 livestock abandoned by fleeing terrorists in Zamfara State.

It said on 8 October 2026, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible human intelligence, arrested one Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State over his alleged collaboration with terrorists. During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to involvement in terrorist activities, including recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was allegedly sexually assaulted by terrorists to facilitate a ransom demand. He further alleged that the victim was subsequently killed after the ransom was delivered and that he received ₦50,000 for his role. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the alleged principal suspect, Yusuf Iliya Sani, and other collaborators.

In a related development, on the same day, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, conducted a joint operation along the Magami–Dansadau road in Zamfara State, during which three Improvised Explosive Devices planted by terrorists were successfully located and destroyed.
The successful clearance operation has elicited positive reactions from residents and road users, who stand to benefit from improved safety and freedom of movement along the route.

Similarly, on the same day, troops of Sector 2, acting on intelligence about the movement of terrorists with rustled livestock between Kombo and Gurusu villages, swiftly deployed to the area and engage the terrorists. Troops’ effective fire forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning the rustled livestock. The recovered animals comprised 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep. Troops in conjunction with local vigilantes, subsequently moved the livestock to a secure location for further action.
These operational successes underscore the commitment of troops and other security agencies to dismantling terrorist support networks, neutralising explosive threats and protecting lives and property. Members of the public are encouraged to continue providing credible and timely information on suspicious persons, movements and objects to the nearest security formation to support ongoing operations.
