Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE in Plateau state have recorded another operational success after foiling an ambush by suspected bandits during a follow-up operation in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation was launched following the confession of a suspected bandit who was arrested and interrogated by troops. Acting on the intelligence, troops escorted the suspect to Nwur Village to recover his hidden weapon.
While approaching the suspected hideout, the troops came under attack from members of the criminal syndicate. The troops responded with overwhelming firepower, neutralising one of the attackers as well as the arrested suspect who was caught in the ensuing firefight.
Following the encounter, troops exploited the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
Troops have continued exploitation operations within the general area to track down and neutralise other members of the bandit syndicate. Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirms its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and ensuring the safety of law-abiding residents.
