The Armed Forces of Nigeria says troops recorded major operational successes across different theatres of operation between the 30th of April and 7th of May 2026.

A statement by the Director Defence Media Operations Major General Michael Onoja, explains that scores of terrorists and kidnappers were neutralised, and several kidnapped victims rescued, while large caches of arms and ammunition were recovered during coordinated operations nationwide.

In the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai intensified offensives against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and Taraba States.

The military says troops rescued abducted women and children in Gwoza, arrested suspected terrorist collaborators and gunrunners, and repelled an attempted ISWAP attack in Magumeri, Borno State.

Several terrorists were reportedly neutralised, while weapons including AK-47 rifles and anti-aircraft guns were recovered.

In the North-West, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma engaged armed bandits and terrorists in Katsina and Zamfara States.

The military says multiple fighting patrols led to the killing of several terrorists and the recovery of rifles, motorcycles, and ammunition.

Air support from Super Tucano aircraft was also deployed during operations in Zamfara State following attacks on troops at a Forward Operating Base in Anka Local Government Area.

Operations in the North-Central and South-South regions also recorded significant gains.

Troops of Operations Savannah Shield, Enduring Peace, and Whirl Stroke rescued kidnapped victims in Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Plateau States, while several suspected kidnappers and illegal arms manufacturers were arrested.

In Plateau State, troops dismantled an illegal arms production network in Jos South Local Government Area, recovering fabricated AK-47 rifles and weapon-making equipment.

In Edo State, security forces rescued kidnap victims and arrested suspected criminals during coordinated raids.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Udo Ka in the South-East sustained operations against IPOB and ESN elements, including the arrest of a suspected gunrunner in Abia State.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and restoring peace across the country, assuring citizens that military operations against terrorism, kidnapping, and other criminal activities will continue until lasting security is achieved.
