The Yobe State Government today witnessed a seamless transition as Dr. Mohammed Goje, FRSPH, formally assumed office as the Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Speaking shortly after receiving a handover note from the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Alhaji Modu, the new SSG stressed his commitment to continuity, stability, and effective governance under the leadership of Gov Mai Mala Buni.
He expressed his profound appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as both an honour and a call to higher service.
Goje emphasized that the office of the SSG remains the “engine room” of governance, central to policy coordination and effective implementation of government decisions.
The Acting SSG further reaffirmed his commitment to instil discipline across ministries, departments, and agencies, enhancing accountability, and ensuring that policies translate into tangible outcomes for the people of Yobe State.
He noted that the administration has recorded significant achievements across key sectors, including security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture, and pledged to build on these gains through a renewed focus on efficiency and service delivery.
Goje also paid tribute to his predecessor, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, mni, for his distinguished service and remarkable contributions to the advancement of governance in state and assured that he would build on these achievements to further consolidate the gains recorded under the administration.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Alhaji Madu, assured Goje of cooperation of the management and staff of the office.
“ The entire workforce remains committed to working collaboratively to ensure the success of the office in delivering on government priorities,” he said.
The brief ceremony was also attended by Special Adviser Security, Permanent Secretaries, Senior Government Officials, Family, Friends and Associates of the new SSG.
