    The Zamfara State Government has announced plans to build student hostels and provide mobility vehicles to the State University, Talata Mafara aimed at improving access for students to the institution.

    A statement signed by the chief press secretary office of the Deputy Governor,Shehu Adamu Gusau said the State governor Dr Dauda Lawal made the announcement, during his address at the University’s fifth matriculation ceremony, held today at the university’s permanent site.

    The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Mani Malam Mummuni Masamar Mudi (Matawallen Bukkuyum) emphasized that his administration has declared a state of emergency in the education sector, and is committed to providing modern technological resources to ensure the delivery of quality education in the University.

    Governor Lawal also expressed his gratitude to the University’s development partners, including TETFUND, the Federal Government’s Assessment Intervention, and the Academic Community, for their collaborative efforts in ensuring the smooth operation of the institution.

    He congratulated the newly matriculated students, and urged them to avoid engaging in exam malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices that could hinder their academic success.

    Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of State University, Talata Mafara, Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Tsafe, announced that 980 students had been matriculated for the 2025/2026 academic session.

    Professor Tsafe also expressed his appreciation to the state government for entrusting him with the leadership of the University, assured that he would do everything possible to fulfill the expectations placed on him and highlighted some of the achievements of the University, as well as challenges that need to be addressed.

    The Emir of Mafara, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Barmo, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of seeking knowledge for all individuals, referenced notable verses and traditions of the Holy Prophet, which emphasize the value of education
