Final-year students of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, participating in the University’s Compulsory Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Programme, have demonstrated increased commitment and enthusiasm towards the training and begun putting into practice the skills they are acquiring through the ongoing programme.
In a statement signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy media aide to the VC said the training, facilitated by the Directorate of Skills Development and Linkages (DSD&L) under the leadership of its Director and Head of Entrepreneurship Department, Prof. Amina Sani, covers areas including solar installation, make-up artistry, homemade products and small chops, sewing and garment production, cybersecurity, computer and phone repairs, as well as shoe and bag making.
To strengthen the hands-on training, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has provided equipment and materials to support practical learning in the various skill areas.
During the practical session held on Friday, 21st August 2026, students produced a variety of items, including chops, shoes, bags, clothes and other items, as they continued to develop and apply their practical skills.
The programme holds every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is designed to equip graduating students with practical and entrepreneurial skills that can complement their academic qualifications and prepare them for life after graduation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, had directed that every student must acquire at least one practical skill before graduation, making participation in the programme a compulsory requirement for final-year students.
All final-year students who are yet to participate are therefore encouraged to join the programme promptly and register in their preferred skill area.
