The Directorate of Skill Development and Linkages (DSD&L), Federal University of Education, Zaria today received a facilities inspection team from the World Bank-supported Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project, under the Federal Ministry of Education.
The inspection was conducted to evaluate the Centre’s capacity and readiness as one of the designated training hubs for the IDEAS Project. The team toured various sections, including animal husbandry, poultry, fishery, solar/electricity, computer and networking, as well as building and construction sections.
The Directorate is set to train over 2,000 participants in the third cohort of the IDEAS Project, a Federal Government initiative implemented in collaboration with the World Bank. The programme supports the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at equipping Nigerians with practical and employable skills.
The inspection team, led by Dr. Okoye, alongside Madam Dinatu and Dr. Bosum, expressed satisfaction with the facilities, describing the Centre as one of the best they have assessed. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration with the University.
In her remarks, the Director of the Centre, Prof. Amina Sani, appreciated the visit and the positive feedback, and expressed optimism for sustained partnerships. She further called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, to continue upgrading the Directorate’s facilities to enhance its training capacity.
The team concluded that the Centre is well-equipped and suitable for the training programme, which will run in both six-month and one-year cycles.
