The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has commended troops of Operation ATILEYIN ALAFIA II for their exemplary discipline, professionalism, and commitment throughout their operational deployment in the Republic of Benin.
This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 81 Division Nigerian Army issued to newsmen.
Addressing a cross-section of the returning troops on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, at the 243 Reconnaissance Battalion Parade Ground, Ibereko Barracks, Badagry, Lagos, the GOC recalled that before their deployment, he had charged them to serve as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria and the Nigerian Army. He expressed satisfaction that the troops had successfully accomplished their mission while upholding the core values of professionalism, discipline, courage, and loyalty.
Major General Babalola disclosed that the troops’ exemplary conduct had earned the commendation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, who expressed satisfaction with their outstanding performance and exemplary comportment throughout the operation. He further informed the troops that arrangements were underway for the award of operational medals in recognition of their meritorious service.
While urging the troops to sustain the high standards they had demonstrated, Major General Babalola cautioned them against any act capable of tarnishing the enviable reputation they had earned.
