Governor  Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, has called on parents, Islamic clerics, and community stakeholders to unite in combating youth restiveness, immoral behavior, and drug abuse across the state.

The Governor made this appeal during overnight visits to eight different Maulud processions held in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

This was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressed deep concern over social vices, calling for united action and fervent prayers to guide youths away from phone snatching, hooliganism, substance abuse, and online defamation.

“Kano is well known for practicing Islamic teachings and for its deep devotion to Prophet Muhammad (SAW). However, it is deeply troubling to see some disgruntled youths using social media platforms to insult people of dignity,” Governor Yusuf stated. He stressed that all stakeholders, particularly the Ulama, must join hands to curb this worrying trend.

Throughout his visits across all eight locations, the Governor urged parents to redouble their efforts in providing proper moral upbringing, while calling on religious leaders to intensify their admonitions and prayers for divine intervention.

“It is completely unacceptable to see youths abusing Islamic clerics, traditional rulers, respected community elders, and political leaders on social media,” he added.

To address these challenges, the Kano State Government has established a dedicated Task Force to combat drug abuse, illicit substances, and human trafficking.

Furthermore, the administration is actively revitalizing 26 skill acquisition institutes across the state to engage youths in productive skills forself-reliance.
